Why Junior Clothing Stores Are So Popular With Teens

When you walk through the mall, you may notice that some stores have adolescent girls going in and out of them. A closer examination will show scantily clad mannequins wearing low rise jeans and tops cut off at the midriff. These are the clothing stores that were specifically designed with teenaged girls in mind.

In the early 80s, junior clothing stores began to spring up as clothing manufacturer and designers realized how much money teenagers spent on their clothes. Many of these teens used their own money from jobs that they had and often went shopping without their parents, choosing instead to pick out their own clothes. This trend started with stores such as 5.7.9 and has gone on to include Wet Seal, Charlotte Russe and The Buckle. There are also unisex theme stores that cater to the hard rock and Goth crowd, such as Hot Topic. In these stores you can find leather and lace combinations as well as trendy stockings and outer garments. The decor of junior clothing stores add to the appeal for their younger clientele. The music that is played in them includes rock and other popular genres favored by the young crowd. Many of the salespeople are teens themselves and proudly sport piercings, tattoos and the hair color du jour.

The owners of junior clothing stores know that the prices have to be affordable for teens, so the clothes that they carry usually cost less than what adults would have to pay for theirs. They also recognize that teens are fickle and constantly change their opinions on what is in fashion, so the emphasis is more on style than actual quality. Most of these clothes are cut to fit the smaller bodies that teenaged girls have, but many of the stores realize that not all teens have tiny waists, so they include sections for those teens that are considered "plus" sized. This adds extra appeal because now groups of teens can shop together instead of having to split up to allow the larger sized group to shop at stores that cater mainly to adults. There are also stores such as Torrid that cater to plus sized teenagers, offering them the same styles as their slimmer counter parts that they may not be able to find in the regular junior clothing stores.

Teens are a clothing manufacturer's dream, spending an estimated 172 billion dollars a year. In recognition of that fact, department stores now offer large areas that are dedicated to juniors. They too play music designed to lure them into that section and feature trendy and stylish clothes and jewelry that they think will appeal to their younger audience. Lane Bryant, a store that specializes in plus sized clothing for adults, have added younger looking lines of garments, as have others. For the teens that desire a more classic look, stores such as Abercrombie offer clothing lines that will appeal to this type of shopper.

Why Low Cut Jeans Are Such A Hot Fashion Item These Days

Have you ever noticed that as you get older and fashions change, your body seems to change in the opposite direction? When low rise jeans first came out, I knew there was no way this body was ever even going to attempt wearing them.

As I have grown older the idea of wearing the stylish jeans of the younger generation has never really been my thing. I don't exactly have a pot belly, but these jeans seem to demand a six pack stomach and alas, this is not the case with me. Besides, they look so uncomfortable and I wonder if they get any lower when you try to sit down. Oh well, not too be too outdated, I will wear the mid-rise jeans.

The older I get, the more I am constantly wrestling with the idea that I am no longer the young stud I use to be. Jeans are one of the clothing items that I of course still wear a lot of, but my style is much different than that of my sons.

I have never professed to being the king of fashion by any means, but I'm trying to balance my own body needs with the current fashion trends. I definitely don't want to wear the low rise baggy jeans that I'm seeing all over the television, they just will not flatter me or look appropriate for my age. But I like to try and look as good as possible with what I have to work with.

I have found that the regular rise of jeans works really well for me and helps to camouflage the fact that my stomach is slowly growing with age. I work out and stay healthy but nothing I do seems to be able to totally get rid of this little belly I have. But I guess that is just part of growing old.

Low rise jeans are pretty cool looking and I'm sure many of us middle aged men have at least tried a pair of them out, but I still have not seen anyone over the age of 40 that they really looked ok on.

My son's on the other hand absolutely love low rise jeans and I think that is pretty much all they own. Every time we are at the mall they are asking for another pair of jeans. It is an anomaly that they have so many jeans but continue to need more. But I guess since jeans are the current fashion trend there is really nothing my wife or I can do about it.

Fashion Cowboy Belt Buckle

Belt buckles that we know today are evolving as fashion revival. This items have become an important accessory of men's and women's wardrobes. The cowboy belt buckle is an American original. The Old West is an unique period of American national history. However, cowboys did not invent the Western buckles the way we know them today. In Fact, cowboys wore suspenders to hold their pants.

Those buckles were designed by Hollywood when Cowboy movies were getting big bucks green. The costume designers wanted the Cowboys to look stylish and distinctive, and there the cowboy buckle set them apart. Today Cowboy belt buckles are used by our own President, the Governor of California, movie stars, celebrities and just about anyone else who wants a different touch in their dress. Cowboy buckles are highly prized and some custom designed buckles are sold for thousands of dollars. With the right touch, this masculine item could also look very feminim and chic.

As you can see fashionable belts and buckles are once again become an integral part of a person's wardrobe not only for men but also women. Buckles come in variety sizes and are made of all kinds of materials such as plastic, silver, wood and even gold. They are made to be seen. Throughout the ages belt buckles have been designed and utilized to denote a person's profession or status, eg: Military buckles may denote rank.

As time goes by, more and more people come to realize that the belt buckle can definitely dress up any given outfit. But the important thing is, buckles do not have to be expensive to express ones individuality or personality

Lambskin Jackets

Typically, a quality jacket made from lambskin will provide you with years of warmth and protection from the wind and cold. You should treat your jacket immediately after purchasing and a couple times each year while you own it using a leather protector.

Just like other leathers, your lamb leather jacket will also need to be conditioned. Be sure to stay away from anything that contains mineral oil or petroleum, as well as conditioners that are heavy and greasy. Instead, you want a polish that will penetrate the fibers of the leather.

An excellent brand is called lexol.com which will help condition and moisturize your jacket. When choosing polishes, make sure it does not contain any type of coloring agent that could cause a stain or discoloration.

Additionally, some polishes such as waxes or silicon-based products will actually damage your jacket by clogging the leather pores. Although Mink Oil or other types of animal fats are generally good choices, they can darken the color of your lambskin jacket.

Lambskin and Moisture

Lambskin is softer than other leathers so it requires some extra care. The leather is extremely warm, making it a great choice for cold climates. However, if you get your lambskin wet, be sure to hang it up away from anything else, allowing it to dry completely. Because lamb leather can spot from rain or snow, carefully rub the stain with an emery board or rubber suede eraser carefully, but do not towel dry. Your best bet is to use a quality protector twice a year An excellent brand is ITA Protector which can be used to protect other types of leather as well.

Plus Size Clothing: Don't Borrow Grandma's Clothes

Just because you have curves doesn’t mean you have to go to your grandma’s favorite clothing store to stock up on Mu-Mu gowns. No, you can be just as trendy as the next man or woman with great plus size clothing that is made for your age.

The great thing about plus size clothing today is that there are more and more designers realizing they need to pay more attention to what plus size people wear. In the past it was all about covering up, but now it is about showing what you have and being proud of whom you are. There is no reason plus size clothing can’t be fun and comfortable at the same time.

If you are looking for hot plus size clothing, you can start at your local clothing stores. You will love the fact that many are carrying more plus sizes than ever. You can even find plus size jeans in many of your favorite famous brand names and in juniors as well.

Remember, it may take a little more time to find a store that carries things in your preferred style, but once you do, you can keep coming back for more. Once you do find those stores that cater to your size, you will feel like you hit the jackpot! You can ever start by browsing stores online to see which stores in your area offers plus size clothing. When you do this, you can save yourself the time and traffic of going from store to store looking and focus on those you know carry your size.

Ways of telling if that Bag is Designer Original or Copy

You’ve now decided to spend a bit of your hard earned money on the purchase of a good quality handbag, but you want to make sure that the one you are purchasing is the real McCoy and not a cheap and nasty fake. With handbags being so popular in today’s society it is no wonder that there are so many companies out there who are eager to produce counterfeit versions of the likes of Gucci, Lois Vuitton and many of the other top designers. So if you really want to make sure that you are not being ripped off and rather spend your money on something that is really genuine, then by following these few simple hints provided below it will hopefully help you in your quest.

The fabric which is used to manufacture the designer, brand name handbags varies differently from that used in counterfeit models. There will be a problem with the stitching and if there are any flaws on the material being used then the chances are that it is not the genuine article. Designer handbags will only use real materials such as leather and animal skin, whilst counterfeit handbags will be made using fake leather or animal skin.

With designer handbags the detailing on them is all important as not only is it unique to that particular bag but hours will have been spent on making sure that the detailing is exactly right. You will often find that designer handbags have extra stitching and other details included such as little diamonds, buckles or zippers which will make them truly unique to that particular designer. You will also discover that with designer handbags the diamonds used are real rather than fakes.

If you want to determine whether the handbag you are purchasing is fake or not is by looking and studying the real versions and the best way of doing this is to look at what the celebrities are carrying. Celebrities will always have the real version of the designer handbag and certainly most people recognize Louise Vuitton purses and handbag designers because of such celebrities as Jessica Simpson. Certainly when you are constantly being bombarded with celebrities carrying a specific type of handbag you will find yourself more inclined to notice the difference between a genuine and a fake one.

Often brand name handbag designers will include a custom label or logo on theirs and this helps to indicate if the item is genuine or not. Sometimes the name will appear on the zipper or pockets and others like to place in the exact same position on each handbag to ensure that their customers know that they are purchasing the genuine article.

Above all it is important that you know what you are getting for the amount of money you will spending on such an item and if your intuition tells you that the item is fake, then the chances are that you are probably correct in your assumption, so leave well alone. Certainly, because of the amount of money that you will actually be spending on such an item is high, you will want to make sure that it is the genuine product and worth all the money you have spent on it.

Fashion Legend Tom Ford Emerges in Eyewear

Ask fashion worshiper’s who their favorite designer is and you are sure to see one name popping up time and time again: Tom Ford … Tom Ford … Tom Ford! To understand the reason Ford is such a fashion icon and the impact this plays in the eyewear and entire fashion industry, it is useful to first look at Tom Ford's path to being credited as being one of the most influential designers of the last decade.

Ford’s path to fashion legend began when he moved to the New York as a teenager, and enrolled at the NYU in Art History. In 1986 Ford started his career with famous American designer Cathy Hardwick as a part of her creative staff; two years later, he became the Design Director for Perry Ellis. Ford did not stay at Perry Ellis very long before joining Gucci in 1990 as the Women’s Wear Designer and in an unprecedented amount of time Tom Ford climbed the ladder at Gucci and was appointed Gucci’s Creative Director in 1994.

This is where Tom Ford’s true genius showed. Before he began as Creative Director, the company was seeing stagnant sales and was losing market share. In Ford’s first year at the Gucci helm he was credited with putting the glamour back into fashion because of the pioneering fashion trends he introduced, such as the Halston-style velvet hipster’s. By 1999, the house, which had been almost bankrupt when Ford joined, was valued at about $4.3 billion. Gucci bought an interest in Yves Saint Laurent during Ford’s time there, and he was appointed their Creative Director as well. However, in an unexpected turn of events Tom Ford left Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent in 2004 after a disagreement over his contract. Since then Tom Ford has fallen off of the fashion industry’s radar...until now.

Tom Ford now emerges, as he launches a much anticipated sunglasses line. So why did Tom Ford choose sunglasses for his first solo project? When asked he responded “Well as far as accessories go, they're a personal favorite…” If Tom Ford was going to do sunglasses we new they must be something truly remarkable and boy were we right. The sunglass line is a throw back to decades past, in particular most possess that sexy seventies styling that Tom has so successfully made his own. The frames have an oversized and retro feel and can’t help but remind you of an old Hollywood glamour. The sunglass colors are even reminiscent of the time with unique frame and lens colors such as various shades “Havana” and “Horn”. Even the style names are as evocative of the era as the designs themselves, Farrah and Ryan for example. But there are also frames named after Tom's loyal assistant Whitney and his long-term partner Richard Buckley of Vogue Homme, that demonstrate the personal level on which this project has been carried out. Tom Ford has also created a number of Aviator sunglasses for Men such as Tom Ford Falconer or Tom Ford Hawking, which are completely distinct from your standard aviators. For example, Tom Ford Falconer is an over-sized aviator whose frame folds into its palm size case.

With Ford’s extensive celebrity following, his sunglasses have been showing up on the red carpet all over Hollywood. Many stores already have a huge backordered waiting list for many of the Tom Ford sunglass models. It appears that Tom Ford is back in the fashion industry, and in a big way, with his new line of sunglasses.

Fashion -- Latest Trends Influenced by Celebrities, But Make It Your Own

Is fashion influenced by Hollywood? When we see a popular celebrity wearing an amazing outfit, is it the latest trend? The editors of fashion magazines may think using famous people will influence "what's hot and what's not." But what's HOT on a model may be a NOT on many people!

I think there are many factors that sway us in certain directions when we go shopping. Ethnicity may be an influence. In certain cultures you have to dress a certain way. Showing a lot of leg may not be appropriate. Obviously how you are built is going to affect what type of clothes you buy. What a celebrity wears and looks incredible in may look unflattering on you. Money is a monumental influence when buying clothes. Most of us don't make millions a year and therefore can't afford to shop in the boutiques or stores our favorite actresses or actors frequent.

Even if we like what the hottest stars are wearing, why would we want to copy them. The marvelous, fun part of shopping is the statement we make when we put an outfit together. It doesn't have to be a loud statement; just a subtle one that shows our individuality. If we dress just like Lindsey Lohan or Ashley Olsen we still won't resemble them. When you see your favorite star on the cover of a magazine, it's enticing you to buy that particular issue, which is exactly what the company wants you to do. Inside will most likely be a fashion spread featuring what the "It Girls" are wearing. In my opinion, use it as a guide and then tweak it with your own personality.

I like to be fashionable, comfortable, and not spend an absurd amount of money. There are many stores that sell the latest in stylish clothing for a very reasonable price. Old Navy, The Gap and The Loft are some. You can buy jeans, T's, clothes for the office and still have money left over for shoes.

I enjoy the magazine ads and TV commercials that feature beautiful celebrities. Maybe on occasion I will be influenced to buy a bracelet I see. But as far as clothes, I think I'll stick with what looks good on me. Maybe my low-rise jeans with the stitching on the back pockets and weathered longer length t-shirt with flip-flops to match, will influence someone's fashion style.

A Man's Guide to Lingerie: From Sexy to Elegant

When a man wants to buy a gift of lingerie for his partner, it can be a huge and bewildering task. Where do you start? So many brands and styles exist. What are the differences? This short and basic guide to styles and brands of lingerie will help to clarify the basics and will give the essentials necessary to ask for advice in a shop, department store or boutique.

There are 6 different categories of lingerie in the market: Sporty, Natural, Elegant, Designer, Sexy and special occasion, or Bridal Lingerie. Of course, these categories can overlap, Bridal or sexy lingerie can be made by a designer. Sporty lingerie can also be natural. Natural can be sexy. But understanding these six categories will help one to determine which lingerie to select.

Natural Lingerie, in general tends to be functional and less obvious. Simplicity, quality and comfort tend to be the major criteria for use. Darjeeling lingerie brand is for women who prefer the natural look.

The purpose of sporty lingerie is that the lingerie should support but not hinder the lifestyle of the woman. They should not be obvious under tight clothing and yet not give up anything in the way of functionality. Prada is well known for their sport lingerie. Sloggi developed a strong image in this area as well.

Elegant lingerie is designed to give the woman a look of subtle sensuality without being too obviously erotic. Many types and styles of elegant lingerie cross over with designers. Chantelle’s Riviera lingerie is one example of elegant lingerie

Designer lingerie gives a woman the feeling of being special. As few people will ever know she is wearing lingerie made by a designer, the woman who spends the money on designer lingerie is spending it mostly for herself. The focus is on style over comfort or quality. Dolce and Gabana, Versace and recently popular Agent Provocateur are a few important designers of lingerie.

Sexy Lingerie combines a wide range of styles and look. Many different types of lingerie can be included here, such as thongs or g-strings, teddy, corsets, garters, body stockings, sheer lingerie etc. To be sure, any of these can be included in other categories. For example a thong can be sporty or elegant. A corset can be sexy, provocative or elegant. Any of them can be made by a designer. But the overall look of these types of lingerie gives the woman a sexy feel. Victoria’s Secret has a focus on sexy lingerie. Fredericks is their fading competitor. Lola Luna specializes in G-Strings or thongs. Lady Marlene focuses on Bustiers. Lise Charmel of France combines seduction with fashion.

Bridal Lingerie is made especially for that one day for which a woman waits all of her life, her wedding night. Usually it combines a white, creamy color with elegant and sexy style. Comfort or durability is hardly an issue here, but sensuality and style are essential. It seems that every lingerie designer markets a line of bridal lingerie.

So which brand of lingerie do you buy? Mostly that depends on where you live. Lingerie tends to be national or regional. Though some manufacturers are attempting to become global, there is no one company dominating the global market:

• Chantelle Lingerie is one of the top brands of French lingerie, exporting to more than 50 countries. Passioneta and Darjeeling are Chantelle brands. However, Chantelle sales are still quite small in the USA.

• La Perla began as a small Italian manufacturer of corsets and is now becoming well known internationally as a manufacturer of lingerie

• Fantasie is a UK lingerie designer that focuses on lingerie in larger cup sizes. The UK represents, by far, the major sales for Fantasie.

• Triumph is a German lingerie manufacturer that like La Perla had its beginnings as a small local manufacturer of corsets and has grown to an international corporation. Sloggi is a brand which is owned by Triumph. Triumph is barely existent in North America.

• Victoria’s Secret was started in the 1977 by Roy Raymond who wanted a European style shop that was accessible to males as well as females. Raymond sold his company in 1982 to The Limited Inc and it has grown up to be the top US manufacturer of lingerie. However, Victoria’s Secret is almost unknown n Europe.
