What You Should Know About Safari Jackets

A typical safari look: a lightweight shirt coupled with a comfy pants, with an accent of a nice safari hat and a bag full of safari gears. What's left? Yes, the safari jacket.

Safari jackets were primarily designed for use during on a safari trip. This tradition as started since late 1800's when Europeans begun to search for the wild found in the realms of Africa.

Safari, a Swahili term which means "journey" were then adapted into the English language since the popularity of the activity itself (safariing) has lurked into the highest people in the society. Thus, creating a snob appeal.

Nowadays, safariing along with safari jackets have been receiving extensive fame and acceptance especially because the activity is rewarding and relatively educational. In fact, African safaris seem to have the appeal of being a naturalist's, environmentalist's, ornithologist's, ecologist's, hobbyist's haven.

The fame of safari jackets was attributed to the adventure-look popularized in the turn of the century. These, since then, were designed for function and comfort in the African safari terrain.

Since safari jackets appeal to both fashion and functionality, they were made by combining art that maximizes the use of each component.

Though we may see safari jackets with over-emphasized pockets these days, no one can still contend that pockets are perfect when in the field. They allow you to have more things at any given time without the hassle of reaching up your backpack and get whatever you need. With more pockets comes more practicality.

Local tour operators don't normally allow their guests to bring as much equipment as they may want. In fact, everything is limited into a few pairs. Shirts are limited only into three with corresponding garments such as underwear, undershirts and the likes. Thus, with more pockets you have, you can bring in smaller gadgets with you whenever and whatever you think you might need them.

Aside from its functionality, safari jackets are also efficient in making you feel secured from the harmful environmental factors such as the heat of the sun.

The typical color of most safari jackets is khaki or beige. Though they can also appear in patterned forms and other shades of color. Nonetheless, the two neutral colors we have earlier mentioned are more ideal since they both complement the over-all functionality of the jacket.

Fashion Legend Tom Ford Emerges in Eyewear

Ask fashion worshiper’s who their favorite designer is and you are sure to see one name popping up time and time again: Tom Ford … Tom Ford … Tom Ford! To understand the reason Ford is such a fashion icon and the impact this plays in the eyewear and entire fashion industry, it is useful to first look at Tom Ford's path to being credited as being one of the most influential designers of the last decade.

Ford’s path to fashion legend began when he moved to the New York as a teenager, and enrolled at the NYU in Art History. In 1986 Ford started his career with famous American designer Cathy Hardwick as a part of her creative staff; two years later, he became the Design Director for Perry Ellis. Ford did not stay at Perry Ellis very long before joining Gucci in 1990 as the Women’s Wear Designer and in an unprecedented amount of time Tom Ford climbed the ladder at Gucci and was appointed Gucci’s Creative Director in 1994.

This is where Tom Ford’s true genius showed. Before he began as Creative Director, the company was seeing stagnant sales and was losing market share. In Ford’s first year at the Gucci helm he was credited with putting the glamour back into fashion because of the pioneering fashion trends he introduced, such as the Halston-style velvet hipster’s. By 1999, the house, which had been almost bankrupt when Ford joined, was valued at about $4.3 billion. Gucci bought an interest in Yves Saint Laurent during Ford’s time there, and he was appointed their Creative Director as well. However, in an unexpected turn of events Tom Ford left Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent in 2004 after a disagreement over his contract. Since then Tom Ford has fallen off of the fashion industry’s radar...until now.

Tom Ford now emerges, as he launches a much anticipated sunglasses line. So why did Tom Ford choose sunglasses for his first solo project? When asked he responded “Well as far as accessories go, they're a personal favorite…” If Tom Ford was going to do sunglasses we new they must be something truly remarkable and boy were we right. The sunglass line is a throw back to decades past, in particular most possess that sexy seventies styling that Tom has so successfully made his own. The frames have an oversized and retro feel and can’t help but remind you of an old Hollywood glamour. The sunglass colors are even reminiscent of the time with unique frame and lens colors such as various shades “Havana” and “Horn”. Even the style names are as evocative of the era as the designs themselves, Farrah and Ryan for example. But there are also frames named after Tom's loyal assistant Whitney and his long-term partner Richard Buckley of Vogue Homme, that demonstrate the personal level on which this project has been carried out. Tom Ford has also created a number of Aviator sunglasses for Men such as Tom Ford Falconer or Tom Ford Hawking, which are completely distinct from your standard aviators. For example, Tom Ford Falconer is an over-sized aviator whose frame folds into its palm size case.

Best Dressed Lists

It's always refreshing when fashion jumps out of the fashion world and onto mainstream society, even if it's through public figures that we hardly are ever going to run into on the street. That's why I thoroughly enjoyed the news this week about Vanity Fair magazine naming three so-called fashion icons. The list was diverse and their sense of fashion varied, but what they have in common seems to be a strong sense of personal style that comes through no matter what they wear.

The name of US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice jumped out from the list right away. The magazine cited her mainly for a "renegade" fashion sense that is best exemplified by the "dominatrix" boots that she seem to have grown on her. Vanity Fair noted that Rice was always "immaculately groomed" and exuded "an audacious renegade streak, not to mention her black knee-high dominatrix boots." It marks the first time that a US secretary of state has ever been included in an international best-dressed list.

Of course, Rice has always exhibited diverse talents not only in politics or on the world stage. Since she assumed office in January last year, she has impressed many with her concert-level piano-playing, dawn fitness routine, and an appearance in the aforementioned knee-high "dominatrix" boots. Her image is one that boasts of competence and power. Let's hope she can wield her talents for a quick solution to the problems in the Middle East.

It was easy to see how the best-dressed pair of actress Renee Zellweger and British royalty Prince William were on the list. Both of them have so much personal flair and are certified head-turners anywhere.

Other prominent women who made Vanity Fair's top 10 list are talk show icon Oprah Winfrey, actress Selma Blair, filmmaker Sofia Coppola, rock singer Gwen Stefani and Charlotte Casiraghi, the daughter of Monaco's Princess Caroline, as well as model Kate Moss who graces the cover of the September issue of the magazine.

Free Your Closet Space

You still remember the spacious walk-in closet you fall in-love with when you first saw your current apartment. This closet was actually one of the main reasons you decided to rent the specific house and you nostalgically now recall how proud you felt when you still had the ability to enter your closet space in order to select your next attire. But, for some time now, you have been experiencing an extremely different situation. Your once beloved closet has transformed itself into a monster that threatens to expand its presence to other areas of your apartment as well. Clothes, shoes, and accessories, have been pilling up inside your closet space creating an amorphous mass, which you have to squeeze under your feet in order to grab and pull out your next choice of garment. If this description sounds familiar, perhaps it is time to put an end to your suffering and regain control over your closet. It can actually be a fun process, regardless of what you might believe.

The only way to straighten out not only your wardrobe, but also your mind, is to do what you dread of; empty your closet space. Although some might think that this is actually an unnecessary step, I strongly recommend you to reconsider. By pulling every piece of garment outside your closet's space you will actually get a chance to check what exactly you have been hiding in there; for who knows how long. By emptying your closet, the mess you now think as inevitable might become an organized zone of personal enhancement that you have never before dreamt of having. Thus, assign a weekend to complete this tremendously important closet-cleaning process and you will be grateful that you will be able again to grab a shirt from the hanger without having first to pick up twenty different things from the floor just to be able to reach your choice.

Begin by opening your closet and inspecting the mess inside. Which four types of clothes or garment materials can you see that you have in abundance? Select the ones that you frequently have bought over the years and place them onto the bed. Dividing the bed space into four zones will assist your efforts later, as you will be able to see how many clothes from each category you own and select the right amount of space for them to be placed. In addition, during this closet-cleaning-up procedure, it is best if you put every single thing currently residing inside your closet's space somewhere else inside your apartment. Since your bed will host the garments that most frequently appear in your closet, the rest of the apparel materials have to be placed somewhere else, keeping a logical order and forming smaller piles of similar stuff. Pants, suits, shirts, skirts, dresses, shorts, blouses, tops, and T-shirts have to get out from your closet to "breathe," along with belts, scarves, gloves, bags, shoes, socks and underwear. Attempting to remodel your closet's space will give you a good idea of what you already have in your possession and which of those old clothes and accessories you really wish to keep.

In The Name Of Fashion

Walking down the crowded streets, pushing your way through the queue, passing through the halls of a high school, dancing on the club floor, you simply can't help noticing how people especially youngsters, try to decorate every part of their body. In fact, it makes you think the human body should have had an extra pair of hands and feet not to mention ears and maybe a pair of extra nostrils too, so that people wouldn't need to pierce their lips, tongues, bellies and eye brows etc. The youngsters over the past decade have begun using rings and tops profusely. There was a time when you could identify and differentiate between a punk and a normal guy. The impact and influence of media is so strong that it is hard to stop the current generation from adopting methods of reconstructing themselves. They want to singularity, they crave for excitement.

Jewelry has lost its true essence and it is everywhere and anywhere. It just has to be there. Starting from the ear that could compensate two earrings which could palpably be decent somehow changed into the maximum amount of tops and earring the ear lobe can hold. It wouldn't be an exaggerated statement to say ears are adorned with 9 or 10 tops at a time which makes it similar to a jewelry shop's display of earrings with every sort of design, size and shape.

Then comes the nose, the nostrils can readily be pierced at one place. Ironically, girls these days wear so many nose pins, that their nose seems smaller than the ornaments on it.

Human's exuberance and liveliness is projected even more vividly when you find a pierced belly or lip. You can heave a sigh of relief and acknowledge the human consideration of restricting the number of rings and pins used at these spots to just one or maximum of two. Perhaps, the concept behind getting a tongue pierced can only be appreciated when the person with a tongue piercing sticks out a decorated tongue on you.

Humans have a revolting nature and an unquestionably brilliant way of making a muddle out of everything, even if its idea was to help them or adorn their lives. Even in the name of fashion, the newer generations seem to be making a mockery of themselves.

Plus Sized Shoes Online

Many women have no problem finding plus size clothing, but finding plus size shoes can be a lengthy quest. Although there are women of the world who are plus size in body and have regular size feet, there are also women who need extra wide shoes as well. If you need extra wide shoes, you will not likely be able to find them at your local shoe store. Even if you do find them at a shoe store, they will likely cost you a fortune, just for one pair. So, if you are in need of plus sized shoes, you should consider looking online.

When shopping for plus size clothing and shoes online, you need to remember to check out the sizing charts before you commit to the purchase. You should use a soft tape measure to check all of the measurements the site suggests. This will keep you from having to return something that doesn’t fit. Many times you will have to pay for shipping to return items, so be sure to be extra careful when you order. If you are buying them for someone as a gift, you will need to be sure that they can be returned by the recipient as well.

To find these great plus size clothing and shoe outlets, you just need to do some searching. Check out many websites and compare the prices, products, and shipping details. Does Beauty Have to Mean Pain? Not if You Choose the Right Shoes!

Stiletto heels are adored by most men - and many women. They make beautiful legs look stunningly gorgeous. However, spike heels can be very uncomfortable, even painful. If you learn some basic facts, you can avoid the pain and wear a smile instead of a frown.

The Perfect Design

An incline of over 2 inches from toe to heel can increase the impact of each step sevenfold or more. Choosing a pair of heeled boots or shoes doesn't rule out sexy stilettos. If you purchase footwear with a stacked toe, keeping the incline to 2 inches or less, you can create the illusion of real stilettos - while avoiding the pain.

Modern materials and manufacturing techniques for athletic shoes are also utilized in today's women's shoes. Try to find a sole with air pockets and a see-through construction. The air pockets reduce painful impact, and the transparency gives the impression of floating on air, while making shoes look dainty.

Insist on sturdy, quality construction with straps that hug (without chafing) to provide firm support. Shoes with leather uppers will wick away moisture and heat, allowing your feet to breathe in comfort.

Whatever your choice, footwear should be comfortable from the first moment you try it on. High-quality footwear does not require a breaking-in period.

Perfect Sizing

Don't try to squeeze into something that is too small. If you must wear a 7 1/2 wide instead of a 7 narrow, do it. Comfort must always be number 1 on your list of priorities. You may have seen commercials for high-heel comfort gel inserts. While there is nothing wrong with this extra layer of protection, it cannot replace proper style and fit.

The Tryouts

After you have found your 'perfect' footwear, try it on and walk around inside the store for a few minutes. Place your weight gently, heel first, rocking forward onto the ball of each foot. Take small steps, legs close together, pretending that you are wearing a really tight skirt without a kick pleat. Toes should be pointed to the front, not to the side.

Do you feel absolutely comfortable? Great! Ring up the sale! Do you wobble from side to side when you walk? Do you feel unsteady? Pick out something else! Wobbling is unsafe and unsexy. If you sprain or break an ankle, you won't feel very attractive hobbling around on crutches.

Keeping your sales slip handy, proceed at once to an indoor location with a smooth floor. Stroll around in your new shoes or boots for about an hour. Practice walking around corners, navigating stairs, and making turns - like a model on a runway. After the hour has passed, how do your feet feel? Do they burn? Do they have blisters or tender spots? If the answer is 'yes', return them to the store immediately and look for something else. The soles will still be in near pristine condition. Once the final decision has been made, spend more time practicing. Do not venture out in public until you feel confident walking on floors, uneven surfaces, and carpeting. If you plan to go dancing, rehearse for awhile in front of a mirror.
